Traveling by 4×4, you’ll explore one of the highest marble quarries with panoramic views of the landscape. Led by a professional guide, a quarryman by trade, this guided tour offers an immersive journey through the history and techniques of marble extraction in Carrara.

Starting with a pickup from Carrara or nearby areas, the tour includes an off-road drive to Quarry No. 177 in Colonnata, a walking visit to ancient quarry sites with Roman relics, and explanations of traditional and modern marble processing.

The experience continues along the old marble railway to the Vara bridges for a tasting of Colonnata lard, before ascending to a high-altitude quarry with spectacular views reaching the Mediterranean Sea.
